What is a ghost job?
A ghost job is a listing that stays open with little intent to hire—often to collect resumes, signal growth to investors, or keep a pipeline warm while the role is filled or frozen. Ghost jobs waste applicant time and inflate hiring-market noise.
Ghost jobs are not always scams: some employers repost the same role for months, leave listings up after a hire, or recycle descriptions without an active recruiter behind them.
JobiQueue’s Ghost Job Index tracks corpus-wide ghost-likelihood and repost-churn signals so you can see how common these patterns are across remote listings.
